Political Support Influences Pace of Electric Car and Solar Power Adoption in Germany

A study by the Climate Action Research Lab at the University of Freiburg reveals that municipalities in Germany with strong support for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party show slower adoption rates of electric cars and photovoltaic systems. The research, published in Nature Sustainability, also finds that increases in AfD vote share correlate with reduced rates of technology uptake, although adoption continues overall.
