AI-driven method detects carotid artery encasement on CT scans in cancer patients
Audio narration · Coming soon
This study introduces an artificial intelligence approach to detect carotid artery encasement in CT scans of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. Using data from the National Cancer Institute’s CPTAC-HNSCC dataset, the method applies advanced segmentation models to identify tumor and carotid artery regions, aiming to improve surgical planning and reduce risks associated with incomplete tumor excision. The approach was tested on 1,367 images from 100 patients, demonstrating the potential of AI to enhance detection accuracy in complex cases.
