Audio narration · Coming soon

A new study reveals that glaciers terminating in lakes, oceans, or ice shelves, which constitute only 3.2% of the world's glaciers, are responsible for more than half of the global glacier ice loss. Between 2000 and 2019, these glaciers lost 134 billion metric tons of ice annually, highlighting their disproportionate impact on glacier mass decline.
