AI system EpiScreen aids neurologists in distinguishing epilepsy from functional seizures

Researchers have developed EpiScreen, an AI system designed to differentiate epilepsy from psychogenic non-epileptic seizures by analyzing clinical notes from over 13,000 patient records. In retrospective assessments, AI assistance improved neurologists' accuracy in classifying 300 cases. However, further prospective studies are needed to confirm its effectiveness and benefits in routine clinical practice.
