Nanoparticles and fungal metabolites show insecticidal effects against red palm weevil

This study investigates the insecticidal properties of green-synthesized metallic nanoparticles and fungal metabolites from Metarhizium anisopliae against the red palm weevil. Silver nanoparticles demonstrated the highest larvicidal activity, surpassing both the fungal extract and a standard insecticide. Chemical analysis revealed several bioactive compounds in the fungal extract, and enzymatic assays indicated that silver nanoparticles inhibit key digestive enzymes in the pest.
